Subscription

LocalCortex requires a subscription after a 14-day free trial:

  • Monthly: $1.99/month · Yearly: $19.99/year (two months free)
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
  • The subscription auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Manage or cancel anytime: open the App Store app → tap your name → Subscriptions → LocalCortex. Cancelling stops future charges; access continues until the period ends.
  • Restore Purchases: in the app, Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases.

Frequently asked questions

Where do my files live?

In folders you own. LocalCortex never stores your file bytes — each Effort links to a real folder on disk. Point a workspace root at an iCloud Drive or Dropbox folder and your files sync through that provider, like any other folder.

What syncs between my Macs?

Effort and task metadata (names, notes, statuses, structure) sync via iCloud. Files stay where you put them and sync only through the provider you chose for their folder.

I see a “workspace root is missing” message.

The Effort's folder link points at a location this device doesn't know yet. Open Settings → Workspace and pick the folder's current location — the app never moves your files itself.

How do I automate LocalCortex?

Every command is scriptable via AppleScript/JXA (list efforts, create and complete tasks, read the workspace path, …). Error -1004 means the subscription is lapsed — reopen the app and resubscribe to re-enable automation.

How do I capture a task quickly on the Mac?

Press ⌃⌥Space anywhere for the quick-capture panel.

Accept the tutorial offer on first launch, or start it later from Settings → General.
